How to uninstall apps in Windows 8 - gomeshattond
If you're new to Windows 8, I suspect you're finding certain things disorienting. (Ne'er mind the lack of a Start button; that's been covered to death.)
For example, if you're exploitation the Metro UI (i.e. the new Start screen with altogether the tiles), you've undoubtedly installed some apps. That's half the fun, right?
Okay, but what happens when you want to remove an app? It's not at once obvious. If you pull ahead the Charms Bar and tap Settings, no help at that place. If you tap the Change Microcomputer settings link, you'll find no uninstaller there either.
Well, there's always good old Mastery Empanel, right? Wrong: When you get there, you'll see that apps aren't listed. Guess they'Re not "programs" in the traditional sense.
Arsenic it turns outer, if you're operating Windows 8 with a mouse, it's a snap to uninstall an app: Sensible sneak away all over its roofing tile, appropriate-pawl, and then choose Uninstall from the options toolbar that appears at the bottom of the screen out.
Naturally, if you're exploitation a touchscreen, there's no right-click choice. But my Hassle-Unpaid PC intuition told me that tapping and holding a tile would nurture that same toolbar.
Wrong again. That work on requires a bit dance: knock and hold a tile, drag IT downfield just slightly, then issue it. You'll see a checkmark in the recess of the tile and the toolbar retired below. Now you can tap Uninstall to remove the app.
Now that I know this little trick, information technology seems elementary enough, but I don't understand why Microsoft added that little down pat-drag in step. With all other touch-supported user interface, you just tap and custody.
Indeed, if you've ever tried to rearrange your tiles by tapping and dragging, you make out that it doesn't run the "normal" way: you have to do that little retired-drop behind before you can reposition a tile. It's not hard, it's hardly unintuitive.
Merely my $.02, of course. Feel detached to debate my intelligence below.
